Overview

The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is encouraging applications for funding for the Animal and Biological Material Resource Centers. These Centers work to provide special colonies of laboratory animals, research tools like informatics, reagents, cultures of cells, tissues, and organs, alongside genetic stocks used in a variety of biomedical research.

The Resources Centers offered act as a nationwide support system, providing assistance at local, regional, and national levels. The aim of the projects backed by the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to supply resources that help to boost the precision, transparency, and repeatability of biomedical research.

A requirement for proposed Centers is that they have wide-ranging utility across several National Institutes of Health (NIH) Institutes or Centers. This links to the ORIP's NIH-wide mission.

Funds from this opportunity can be used to maintain existing resources as well as to establish new ones if necessary. Before applying, all potential applicants are recommended to speak with Scientific/Research staff. This will provide guidance regarding the suitability of the proposed resource plans for this program, how competitive an application could be, and ORIP's program priorities.
