Overview

The National Cooperative Drug/Device Discovery/Development Groups (NCDDG) is offering a grant opportunity focused on the treatment of mental disorders or alcohol use disorder. This grant, identified as U01 with optional clinical trials, is a reissue of PAR-20-118.

This funding opportunity encourages applications that aim to progress the discovery and preclinical development of new treatment agents and neurostimulation approaches. The focus areas are mental disorders, substance use disorders, and alcohol use disorder. It supports the creation and test of concept for these new treatment methods, as well as the development of novel ligands and circuit-engagement devices. These are intended to further explore existing, or validate new, drug or device targets in the mentioned disorders' treatment.

The NCDDG particularly encourages partnerships between academic institutions and industries. Through this U01-funded project, a named investigator (or investigators) should execute a particular, defined project within their areas of interest and expertise.

However, if applicants are seeking support for larger, more comprehensive research programs – those needing a multidisciplinary approach over a longer term and directed towards a specific, significant objective or goal – they should consider applying for the companion U19 grant. The U19 grant is aimed at broad-based, multi-projects focusing on a cohesive theme or program goal.
