Overview
These interventions range from behavioral to a combination of those and pharmacological in nature. These also cover treatments for drug abuse and patients with associated conditions (comorbidities), measures for improving adherence to drug abuse treatments, and the use of technology to enhance effects and increase the ease and duration of implementation.
The scope of the research encouraged isn't limited to drug abuse treatments but extends to interventions aimed at curtailing the spread of HIV among those undergoing drug abuse treatments. This would also include initiatives promoting adherence to drug abuse treatment, HIV medications, and addiction treatments. Another focus area of this program is interventions to address substance misuse and chronic pain.
Research of interest under this funding covers mainly Stage II and Stage III efficacy research, but it is not strictly limited to these stages. To sum up, the program aims to facilitate a holistic approach in bridging behavioral and pharmacological interventions to tackle drug abuse and related issues.
