Overview

The Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study is a long-term research project gathering data on children's health and mental well-being, cognitive functions, substance use habits, cultural and environmental influences, as well as studying their brain structures and functions. The research begins when the children are around 9-10 years old and continues over a decade, with the data being made accessible to the broader scientific community via the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Data Archive.

The aim of the 'Accelerating the Pace of Child Health Research Using Existing Data from the ABCD Study (R01-Clinical Trial Not Allowed)' grant is to inspire more researchers to make use of this valuable, publicly available dataset. This is with the objective of enhancing our understanding of adolescent health and development. The ABCD Study web page (www.abcdstudy.org) contains more details about the initiative, its findings, and how it may be used for deeper study and analysis.
