Overview

The Stimulating Access to Research in Residency Transition Scholar (StARRTS) grant is a limited competition program. This program is designed to offer ongoing assistance to Transition Scholars who have successfully completed the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stimulating Access to Research in Residency (StARR) R38 program as resident investigators. Additionally, these scholars must demonstrate an ongoing interest in pursuing careers as clinician-researchers.

The StARRTS grant is specifically aimed at those who have completed their R38 research training and have moved on to secure a clinical fellowship or an early-career faculty position. This position could be as an instructor or assistant professor, but it must have been held for less than 40 months at the time of submission or re-submission for the grant.

Successful candidates will be given 12-24 months of mentored research and career advancement support. This is contingent upon their proposal for a compelling research and career development plan aiming towards continued and successful research careers.
