Overview

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is inviting graduate students from a variety of research fields to apply for the Transition to Aging Research for Predoctoral Students Grant. This grant is specifically meant for students who are interested in completing postdoctoral work centered on aging. It covers a wide scope of research areas spanning genetics, biology, clinical works, epidemiology, neuroscience, behavioral, social, and economic research on both basic and translational aging.

The primary objective of the funding opportunity is to encourage the growth of research and clinician scientists in these fields. In order to realize this objective, the NIA will be granting the Transition to Aging Research Award to successful candidates. This award is aimed at attracting and retaining budding investigators in the field of aging research.

The awarded funding adopts a two-phase approach. Firstly, it will support the completion of doctoral dissertation projects. Secondly, the grant will provide beneficiaries with various forms of training support. This is designed to ensure a smooth transition from doctoral studies into competitive postdoctoral positions that focus heavily on aging.
