Overview

The Kidney, Urology or Hematology (KUH) Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) aims to attract outstanding graduate students across various research disciplines to continue their scholarly journey with a focus on Kidney, Urology or Hematology (K, U, or H) research during postdoctoral training. This award is open to graduate scholars specializing in numerous fields, such as engineering, statistics, data science, imaging, biochemistry, and genetics. However, it should be noted that graduate students who are currently engaged in K, U, or H research do not qualify for this F99/K00 award. These students should consider applying for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31, PA-19-195) instead.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) strongly recommends that potential applicants get in touch with the NIDDK Program Official before they start planning their application. The grant announcement (FOA) affirms that this funding opportunity does not permit the scholars to propose conducting an independent clinical trial. Still, it does permit their participation in a clinical trial as part of the research experience, given that the trial is led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.
