Overview
This Award will fund either individual researchers or research groups who demonstrate a high level of innovation in their research proposal on Down Syndrome. Such proposals should introduce groundbreaking ideas, original concepts, or unconventional methods that could ultimately redefine scientific paradigms, establish new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies related to Down Syndrome.
Additionally, the NIH is actively encouraging applications reflecting a broad diversity, including individuals from previously underrepresented groups and institutions across all geographical locations. The ultimate objective is to support the best possible research and researchers.
Applications are welcome from a wide variety of topics related to Down Syndrome or its co-occurring conditions. Notably, applicants are not required to provide preliminary data. Instead, project proposals must cogently argue their potential to make a significant impact in Down Syndrome-related research, based on sound logic and strong scientific rationale.
