Overview

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) has introduced a funding opportunity in the field of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (ADRD) research, called NIA Renewal and Revision Cooperative Agreements. This grant is open for both renewal and revision applications, including resubmissions from previously funded U54 Specialized Center cooperative agreements.

The objective of this funding is to back large-scale and complex research projects, which characterize multiple, highly integrated components, all centered on a common research question pertaining to AD/ADRD. These research initiatives are likely to be carried out by an integrated, multidisciplinary team of investigators. They could be based within a single institution or spread across a consortium of institutions.

The funded projects are expected to address one or more implementation research milestones related to AD/ADRD. By doing so, they should support the objectives of the National Plan to Address Alzheimer's and Related Dementias. It's important to note that the execution of a clinical trial is optional for this funding opportunity.
