Overview

The Stimulating Urology Interdisciplinary Team Opportunity Research (SUITOR) program, regulated by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), is a grant that supports innovative, high-quality research relevant to NIDDK's mission. Intending to enhance research in specific benign urologic conditions and diseases that are crucial and timely in the medical field, the NIDDK encourages researchers' efforts through the form of research project grant applications, also known as R01s.

It should be noted that the specific area of interest in research changes over time, allowing it to adapt to emerging opportunities in the field. The topic area previously focused on by the SUITOR program was urinary incontinence. However, they are now transitioning to a new research focus area: neurourology. The R01 is also flexible in that it allows for the optional inclusion of a clinical trial in the proposed research.
