Overview
Its main purpose is to provide funding for three main areas: testing and modifying prototype designs for medical devices, developing assays (testing methods) for diagnosing disease targets, and validating research tools intended for the treatment of HLBS diseases.
It's an initiative to bring promising projects to the next level where they qualify for the NHLBI Catalyze Preclinical program or they attract external development support from either government entities or private institutions. This grant, a part of the broader Catalyze Innovation Grants program, is intended to advance research projects to a stage where they can receive more significant preclinical product optimization and characterization support.
Please note that this program does not allow for funding of clinical trials.
