Overview

The NIAID Career Transition Award (K22 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed) is designed to help postdoctoral fellows transition to roles such as assistant professor or equivalent. The goal is to kickstart their careers in biomedical research as independent scientists. However, this specific funding opportunity does not allow the leading of independent clinical trials, feasibility studies for clinical trials, or any ancillary clinical trials. Applicants can, however, propose to gain experience in a clinical trial overseen by another investigator.
