Overview
The award provides support in two stages – the first two years are dedicated to mentored training while the next phase, lasting from three to five years, focuses on encouraging independent research. There is an option within the program to provide five-year independent support specifically for clinical training in a dental specialty program. However, this is limited to 25% of the effort or at most three person-months in any given year in this R00 phase. A clinical trial is required.
