Overview

The Naval Post Graduate School is inviting applications for a grant under the Research Initiatives program. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is open to individuals and entities interested in conducting basic or applied research in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Please note, this grant does not support projects related to the development of a specific system or purchasing hardware.

The application process is divided into two stages:

1. Submission of a White Paper: Applicants are advised to first draft and submit a White Paper outlining their research proposal. These should be sent directly to Grants@NPS.edu. This step is designed to help minimize the time and resources spent on crafting full proposals that may not have a strong chance of receiving funding. Please note, a separate White Paper must be submitted for each proposed research project. These can be submitted at any time during the open period of this FOA.

2. Submission of a Full Proposal: After successfully submitting a white paper, applicants will be asked to prepare and submit a full, detailed proposal. This must be done through Grants.gov. Do not submit your White Paper at this stage, as only full proposals will be accepted on this platform.

The Research Program Officer in charge will review all White Papers and provide informal feedback. They may encourage or discourage the submission of a full proposal based on their assessment. In some cases, they may provide suggestions on how to improve and strengthen the proposal.
