Overview
1) Investigating sudden and significant emerging drug issues, such as a sudden rise in opioid or synthetic cannabinoid use or overdoses in a particular area.
2) Exploring the effects of shifting policies on emerging marijuana trends.
3) Developing responses to unexpected and urgent opportunities in prescription drug abuse research, such as new local or state initiatives.
4) Responding to urgent and unexpected concerns within the medical system, including understanding addiction services within our changing healthcare system.
5) Investigating sudden and urgent opportunities within the criminal or juvenile justice domains related to drug abuse, changes in healthcare service provision, and system access.
Note that priority will be given to inquiries where the information that could be gained is time-sensitive. Therefore, for this research to remain relevant, the study should necessitate a quick review and immediate funding allocation. This allowance caters for scenarios where impending policy changes would render a standard review and funding timeline inadequate.
