Overview
The Career Transition Award for NINDS Intramural Clinician-Scientists (K22 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) is a program developed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with the goal of assisting exceptional basic or clinical investigators in developing their independent research skills. The process is divided into two phases. The primary phase involves getting an intramural appointment at the NIH, followed by a final phase which includes support at an exterior institution. As part of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), this K22 award is particularly focused on aiding the career progression of NINDS intramural neurologist- and neurosurgeon-scientists into independent positions within academic faculty. This not only allows these clinician-scientists to engage in independently funded scientific research, but also supports their involvement in clinical activities.
