Overview

The NINDS Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Advanced Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity (K99/R00) is a grant program aimed at encouraging diversity in AD/ADRD research. Its objective is to support a group of new and talented researchers from various backgrounds, including those highlighted in NIH's Interest in Diversity.

The program's design assists in the smooth transition of these promising postdoctoral researchers into independent, tenure-track, or equivalent faculty positions. It provides individual NIH research support during this transitional period, to help them establish independent research programs in the AD/ADRD field.

This grant program is specifically intended for applicants proposing research that does not involve managing an independent clinical trial, a feasibility study for a clinical trial, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial. However, applicants are permitted to propose gaining research experience in a clinical trial under the guidance of a mentor or co-mentor.
