Overview

The Ultra-Rare Gene-based Therapy (URGenT) Network Resource Access grant is designed to support researchers investigating rare genetic therapies. This initiative, in which clinical trials are not permitted, allows investigators to tap into resources provided by contract research or medical organizations, known as CROs or CMOs.

These resources include access to subject matter experts within the URGenT Network, a program run by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The aim of this grant is to aid in the planning, manufacturing, and limited development of nonclinical therapeutic methods. In other words, the grant aims to advance the early stages of treatment development without directly involving human patients in clinical trials.
