Overview
This grant is called the Basic Neurodevelopmental Biology of Circuits and Behavior (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) and is a reissue of PAR-19-027. It invites research proposals focusing on the dynamic relationship between the development of brain circuits and behaviors in rodents and non-human primates. The objective is to drive a deeper understanding of how interactions within and across brain regions evolve during pre- and post-natal periods, and how they give rise to cognitive, affective, and social behaviors. Accordingly, the research projects supported will investigate neurodevelopmental trajectories in rodents or non-human primates using in vivo neural measurements in awake and active animals. This funding opportunity utilizes the R01 grant mechanism, in contrast to its counterpart funding opportunity which looks for shorter, riskier R21 grant applications.
