Overview

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center presents the "Opportunities for Collaborative Research" program. This program provides a forum for high-quality scientific research that may improve understanding of critical disease processes or stimulate the development of new therapeutic interventions, diagnostics, or preventative strategies. The initiative encourages and strengthens collaborations between basic and clinical researchers within and outside the NIH, with the aim of accelerating and augmenting translational science.

The program supports research projects that align with the NIH's work to convert basic biological discoveries into clinical applications that could enhance health. This initiative is particularly focused on promoting partnerships between the NIH's intramural investigators, who work within the NIH's labs and clinics, and extramural investigators who conduct research outside the NIH. This collaborative set-up offers extramural investigators the opportunity to benefit from and utilize the unique resources and opportunities available at the NIH Clinical Center.

Fundamentally, these research collaborations align with the interests and priorities of the NIH branches participating in this program, helping to broaden the ambitious scope of translational research. Therefore, the "Opportunities for Collaborative Research" program represents a significant opportunity for scientists to work towards ground-breaking medical advances while contributing to the worldwide scientific community.
