Overview

The NINDS Faculty Development Award aims to boost diversity in neuroscience research. This award is particularly aimed at individuals who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in biomedical research. The scheme offers financial support for research costs, dedicated time for research, and career-focused mentoring in neuroscience research aimed at junior faculty members.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a doctoral research degree such as a Ph.D. or equivalent. They must also be within the first three years of a faculty tenure track or in an equivalent position at the time of application. This award does not support independent clinical trials, feasibility studies for clinical trials, or adjunct studies pertaining to clinical trials. However, it does permit applicants to undertake research experience in a clinical trial provided it is led by a mentor or co-mentor.

This award is a reissue of the PAR-18-490, designed specifically for researchers seeking to diversify independent neuroscience investigations. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is a unique opportunity for eligible professionals in the early stages of their careers.
