Overview

The NIA Postdoctoral Fellowship Award aims to diversify the workforce in translational research related to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). This grant program is specifically designed to improve the skill sets of promising postdoctoral candidates from a wide range of backgrounds. It especially focuses on developing data science and drug discovery abilities applicable to diverse fields within AD/ADRD research, including population studies, research aimed at inventing new treatments and diagnostics, and any aspect of behavioral and social research.

The program is designed with the long-lasting ambition of forming a diversified translational workforce that can effectively contribute to, or even lead, scientific teams adopting a precision medicine approach. Such teams are expected to strategically tackle AD/ADRD through innovative treatment, prevention, early detection, and management methods. This initiative aims to facilitate postdoctoral researchers with a promising future in the field without allowing any clinical trials.
