Overview
The grant starts with one-year of planning called the UG3 phase. This phase is milestone-driven, meaning it has specific goals and objectives that need to be met within that year. If these are achieved and the project is deemed feasible, the UG3 project can then progress to the UH3 phase.
The UH3 phase is a longer phase, lasting up to five years. This is the implementation phase of the clinical trial. It is important to note that only the projects from the UG3 phase that have met the outlined scientific milestones and shown feasibility get to transition to this phase.
The grant application process requires the same application for both the UG3 and UH3 phases. The application should be submitted as per the instructions provided in the FOA. Lastly, under the UH3 phase, the grant will cover the cost of facilitating a clinical trial led by the investigator.
