Overview

The Transition to Independent Environmental Health Research (TIEHR) Career Award is a specialized grant for recent independent faculty who are planning to build their careers in environmental health science research. This program spans three years and acts as a stepping stone for these new researchers towards independence and further career development. Successful completion of the program will prepare candidates to compete for research funding effectively in the future.

A key feature of the TIEHR Award requirements is that it does not allow for independent clinical trials. This includes clinical trial feasibility studies, as well as ancillary studies to a clinical trial. However, applicants are allowed to propose participation in a clinical trial if it is supervised by a research mentor or co-mentor. This specified Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is tailored to meet the needs of the applicants and guide them in their research pursuits.
