Overview

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which is a part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is inviting grant applications for their Occupational Safety and Health Training Project Grants (TPGs). These grants are specifically for occupational safety and health training programs. NIOSH has a responsibility to provide a sufficient number of qualified individuals to execute the aims of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The TPGs serve as one of the main ways this requirement is fulfilled.

Most of the TPGs are given to academic institutions which provide top-quality training in key occupational safety and health fields. These include industrial hygiene (IH), occupational health nursing (OHN), occupational medicine residency (OMR), and occupational safety (OS), along with related areas.

In addition to academic institutions, NIOSH also provides funds to non-academic programs. The aim here is to fulfill the specific training requirements of certain groups. These include firefighters, commercial fishermen, and those undertaking occupational health and safety internships.
