Overview

The Mentored Quantitative Research Development Award, also known as the Parent K25, requires an independent clinical trial. This award has been established with the aim of attracting investigators whose research in quantitative science and engineering has, up until now, not concentrated primarily on health and disease-related inquiries. This K25 grant will supply support and grant "protected time" for a period of supervised study and research. It is ideally suited for professionals with backgrounds in maths, statistics, economics, computing science, imaging science, informatics, physics, and chemistry, who aspire to harmonize their expertise with research relevant to National Institutes of Health (NIH).

This grant is unique, as it is specifically designed for applicants proposing to serve as the main investigator of an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or a standalone ancillary clinical trial while developing their research and career. However, for applicants not planning an independent clinical trial, or those aiming to acquire research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator, they should apply to the companion Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).
