Overview

The Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (known as the Parent K08 Independent Clinical Trial Required) is a program provided by NIH (National Institutes of Health). Its main goal is to equip qualified individuals for roles that strongly influence the national health-related research requirements.

The program is a continuation of a long-standing NIH initiative that offers both support and "protected time". This is to ensure those in possession of a clinical doctoral degree are allowed an intensive, closely-monitored period of career development research. The fields of expertise covered in this program include biomedical and behavioral research, as well as translational research.
