Overview

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico is conducting the Future Scholars for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Workforce Development Programs. As of now, due to the unavailability of government funds, the program isn't accepting Letters of Intent or Proposals. However, should funds become available, this will be updated to allow applications.

AFRL seeks innovative applications under the STEM Workforce Development Programs. They intend to award several grants and cooperative agreements over the five years of this open Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), provided funds are available. Once these five years pass or funds run out, the FOA will close.

Applications from educational programs or projects that align with the Federal STEM Strategy and DoD STEM Mission are welcomed; specifically those that increase educational capacity to prepare students and educators for a 21st-century STEM workforce. Examples could include internships, fellowship programs, college or university project-based learning programs, or other relevant programs.

Before applying, organizations should read and understand the Federal STEM Education Strategy and the DoD STEM Mission. A total of $50,000,000 of federal funding is expected to be awarded. The Government reserves the right to fund none, part, or all of the applications.

For any questions regarding this FOA, potential applicants can contact Sara Telano, the Contracting Officer, and Lauren Rice, the Contracting Specialist. Remember, applications will only be accepted through Grants.gov, and questions can also be directed to a support email given on the website.

Before application, certain steps must be taken:

- You must obtain a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number.

- Register with Grants.gov to receive FOA updates and amendments.

- Register with the System for Award Management (SAM) at https://www.sam.gov/

Potential applicants are advised to begin this process as early as possible as AFRL representatives can't answer questions related to Grants.gov or SAM registration. To receive additional information on the FOA, including future amendments, make sure to register with Grants.gov.
