Overview
The Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award, also known as the Parent K08 (wherein independent clinical trials are not permitted), is a program launched by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The main goal of this initiative is to prepare eligible individuals for career paths that significantly contribute to the health-related research necessities of the nation. The NIH has been running this program for a long time as part of their effort to support aspiring research scientists. They provide financial assistance and designated "protected time" for individuals who own a clinical doctoral degree. The recipients undergo a rigorous and supervised research career development experience in the spectrum of biomedical and behavioral research, including the realm of translational research.
