Overview

The Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (K08) is a program by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Its primary objective is to prepare individuals with a clinical doctoral degree for careers that considerably influence the nation's health-related research.

This program is a continuation of an NIH initiative that has been running for many years. It provides financial support and dedicated time for research career development to these individuals. This time is considered as "protected time" as these participants are allowed to focus entirely on their research journey.

With intensive supervised research, the participants are encouraged to delve into the fields of behavioral and biomedical research, including translational research. The ultimate goal of the K08 program is to benefit the nation's health by enabling skilled individuals to make significant contributions to health-related research.
