Overview

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers a Small Research Grant Program, also known as Parent R03, that does not permit clinical trials. This program is intended to fund small-scale research projects that can be completed relatively quickly and with minimal resources. A diverse range of project types are eligible for funding under this program, examples of which include pilot and feasibly studies. Other eligible projects might also encompass secondary analysis of existing data or independent, compact research schemes. Furthermore, initiatives designed around developing new research technology or advancing research methodologies are also supported by the Parent R03 program. However, it's key to note that applications proposing to conduct clinical trials will not be accepted under this specific funding opportunity announcement.
