Overview

The National Eye Institute (NEI) is offering the Collaborative Clinical Vision Research Project: Resource Center Grant, which is designed to aid large-scale, investigator-led clinical trials. These trials may involve complex elements such as human gene-transfer, stem cell therapy, or other projects involving high resource or safety risks. The goal of these projects is to have a significant impact on public health by furthering our understanding of vision disorders and providing better treatment, screening, diagnosing, and prevention options.

To ensure these valuable and complex projects are carried out with the utmost efficiency and safety, the NEI requires detailed planning. This includes clearly defining the roles and responsibilities within the study organization and instituting careful oversight and monitoring measures.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) encourages applications for the Resource Center grant. This grant is designed to provide necessary services such as imaging and laboratory assistance for a multi-center clinical trial or any other complex or high-risk clinical trial.

It's significant to note that NEI UG1-supported studies are often funded as a group of single-component companion grant awards. These may include the Chairs Grant, the Coordinating Center, and Resource Centers, depending on what is best suited for the project.

The focus of this NOFO is to invite applications specifically for the Resource Center grant, a critical component in supporting large-scale clinical trials.
