Overview

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) has introduced the Sustainable Transformation of Institutional Research Rigor (STIRR) Program. This program (RC2 - Clinical Trial Not Allowed) is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) designed to enhance research accuracy and transparency in academic and research institutions. The aim of this initiative is to facilitate high-quality neuroscience research.

The STIRR program emphasizes the importance of rigorous study designs and transparent reporting. These are key factors for both the neuroscience and broader biomedical community, as they can aid in the design of valid experiments and evaluation of scientific findings' value.

The STIRR Program plans to award grants to support innovative programs, strategies and approaches. Such will take place at the departmental level, inter-departmental level or equivalent intra-institutional entity level. The goal is to implement improvements that will greatly impact the standard of research and reporting in neuroscience.
