Overview

The Innovation for HIV Vaccine Discovery grant does not allow for clinical trials. This recently reissued grant aims to financially back risky, but potentially groundbreaking early stage research focused on vaccine methods to stop the acquisition of, or continuous infection, by HIV. This grant is unique in its funding structure, as it uses a Go/No-Go approach to back high-risk projects. This strategy differs from most traditional R01 projects. In this model, continued financial support for the full duration of the award will be conditioned on fulfilling discussed Go/No-Go benchmarks by the end of the second year.
