STrengthening Research Opportunities for NIH Grants (STRONG): Structured Institutional Needs Assessment and Action Plan Development for Resource Limited Institutions (RLIs) (UC2 - Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The STrengthening Research Opportunities for NIH Grants (STRONG): STRONG-RLI program is a scheme designed specifically to aid Resource Limited Institutions (RLIs). RLIs are institutions that primarily focus on serving historically underrepresented populations in biomedical research, and award degrees in health professions as well as in STEM fields and social and behavioral sciences. Over the past three fiscal years, RLIs may have received $0 to $25 million per year in total costs from NIH Research Project Grant (RPG) support.

The STRONG-RLI program provides support to these RLIs for research capacity needs assessments. Furthermore, the program assists the grantee institutions in utilizing the results of these assessments to establish effective action plans. These plans guide them on how to address the identified needs, enabling the institutions to enhance their capacity and further their mission.

This program does not permit clinical trials.
