Overview

The Parks and Resilient Communities (PARC) funding round, administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, aims to renovate local parks and public gathering spaces. The program's goal is to fund new outdoor public infrastructure to help residents gather and utilize amenities for recreational purposes, while addressing climate change, managing floods, and improving public health by transforming recreation spaces into active defenses against extreme weather.

Applicants must be eligible local units of government (UGLGs) meeting federal CDBG requirements and state program guidelines, including demonstrating community benefit according to HUD Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) standards.

Eligible projects include the renovation of existing public recreation spaces and parks through the installation of outdoor public infrastructure that supports recreational use and climate/flood resilience. Projects must have a scheduled completion date no later than December 31, 2028.

To apply, applicants must complete the PARC Application and attach all required documentation, submitting the complete package as a single PDF file via email to cdbg@michigan.org no later than February 12, 2027, at 5:00 p.m. EST. Applicants will receive an email confirmation upon receipt.
