Overview
Eligible recipients include residential single-family homeowners as well as owners and operators of commercial properties, including commercial mixed-use buildings with multifamily residential units across any number of stories in Michigan.
Eligible projects must involve energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits that are recommended by a program-compliant energy audit. For commercial buildings, audits must determine overall energy consumption, identify lifecycle cost-effective opportunities, evaluate peak energy demand sources, recommend peak-demand controls, and estimate savings using DOE-approved software. For residential single-family buildings, audits must evaluate criteria consistent with the Energy Star Home Performance Assessment, provide a Home Energy Score or equivalent, and recommend lifecycle cost-effective measures and peak-demand management controls.
The loan program is currently in development following a Request for Information (RFI) that closed in March 2026. A Request for Proposals (RFP) is anticipated for release in Fall 2026. Interested parties may contact EGLE program staff at EGLE-MMD-EID-Section@Michigan.gov for additional details.
