Overview

The Circular Economy Grants are funded by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) as part of NextCycle Michigan. The primary goal of the program is to support the development of circular supply chains in Michigan by utilizing otherwise wasted material streams and keeping valuable materials out of landfills.

Applicants must be physically located in Michigan and can apply as an individual entity or as a collaborative partnership. Eligible entities include businesses, non-profit organizations, tribal governments, school districts, universities, colleges, local health departments, regional planning agencies, municipal solid waste or resource recovery authorities, and local government units including cities, villages, townships, charter townships, and counties. Participation in other NextCycle Michigan accelerator programs is not required to apply.

Eligible projects must advance circular supply chains and keep materials out of landfills through activities such as reuse, repair, remanufacturing, recycling, organics recovery, composting, or developing and scaling markets for recovered and recycled materials.

Applications are submitted online during open request windows through the NextCycle Michigan website. Organizations interested in future funding rounds can monitor the NextCycle Michigan funding pathways portal or join the program newsletter for upcoming application cycle announcements.
