Overview

The focus of the program is to implement protection and advocacy services for persons with developmental disabilities and persons labeled as mentally ill and to provide the contractor access to certain funds appropriated by the Michigan Legislature via Public Act 60 of 2001 for these services. Protection and advocacy services to persons with developmental disabilities residing in community and in state-operated centers for persons with developmental disabilities will be operated and provided in accordance with objectives and priorities established annually pursuant to the requirements of the Developmental Disabilities Act and Bill of Rights Act of 2000, 42 USC § 15041 et seq. Protection and advocacy services to persons labeled mentally ill will be operated and provided in accordance with goals and objectives established annually pursuant to requirements of the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Act, 42 USC; 10801 et seq.
