CVI Capacity Building and Implementation Program - 2026

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued a Grant Funding Opportunity (GFO) for communities to implement, strengthen and support community violence intervention (CVI) initiatives.

The purpose of the initiatives is to advance and strengthen CVI services for groups with the highest likelihood of involvement in firearm violence. Funding will prioritize proposals in Berrien (Benton Harbor/Benton Township), Genesee (Flint), Ingham (City of Lansing), Saginaw, and Wayne (City of Detroit), particularly those demonstrating measurable outcomes and integrating public health and public safety frameworks.

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, private and public entities, local health departments, universities and federally recognized tribes, a group of federally recognized Michigan tribes or an Urban Indian Health Clinic.

The grant period is from Sept. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2028. The total amount available is $1.8 million. All applicants must register for the EGrAMS system and request an application by 5 p.m., June 15, 2026. Grant applications for the CVI Capacity Building and Implementation Program GFO must be submitted electronically via EGrAMS by 3 p.m., June 18, 2026. Technical support is available until noon that day through the EGrAMS Help Desk.
