2026 Healthy Kids Initiative

The Healthy Kids Initiative builds on investments in children's health through an integrated approach designed to maximize impact on children, youth, and families in Michigan. The program supports community-driven solutions that improve health from before birth through young adulthood in all the settings that shape children's well-being. Priorities include projects across the state with the potential to strengthen health supports for children, their families, and caregivers, while informing policy, influencing systems, or offering models that others can implement, grow, and adapt. The 2026 grantmaking emphasizes four primary priorities: Access to Care and Support, Maternal and Infant Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity, and Integrated Models for Children's Health.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, federally recognized Tribes, local units of government, and the State of Michigan. Applicants must be recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt, maintain at least one paid full-time equivalent employee, and possess a current audit, independently reviewed financial statements, or Form 990. Organizations do not need to be based in Michigan, but all project activities must occur within Michigan.

Funded projects must directly address one or more of the initiative's focus areas and take place entirely within Michigan. Grants are available for requests up to $750,000.

Applicants must register for an account in the Fluxx grants portal. New users must request an account by Thursday, May 28, 2026, to ensure portal access before the deadline. The grant cycle requires concept papers to be submitted by March 30, 2026, and full applications to be submitted by June 4, 2026. Grant awards are announced on November 5, 2026.
