Overview

The purpose of this NOFO is to support ongoing bio-behavioral surveillance among populations disproportionately affected by HIV. Data will be collected on behavioral risk factors for HIV (e.g., sexual behaviors, drug use), HIV testing behaviors, use of prevention strategies (e.g., condoms, PrEP) and receipt of prevention services. All NHBS participants will be offered an HIV test and linked to appropriate prevention or care services based on test results. Findings from NHBS are used to evaluate and guide local and national HIV prevention programs by assessing exposure to and use of prevention strategies over time and by identifying gaps in provision of or access to HIV prevention services. The prevalence and trends of behavioral risk factors for HIV can be used to inform tailored testing, response, treatment, and other prevention efforts.
