Michigan Main Street (MMS)

The Michigan Main Street (MMS) program assists communities interested in revitalizing and preserving their traditional commercial districts. The program provides technical assistance for communities desiring to develop their own local Main Street program by utilizing the Main Street Approach, a common-sense approach to tackling the complex issues of revitalization by capitalizing on downtown's history and identifying the unique assets of the community itself. The framework supports long-term strategic planning, community vibrancy, historic preservation, and economic vitality. Michigan communities or partner organizations have the opportunity to learn more about the Main Street program through a free online training series and access the Main Street Solution Center for best practices, tools, and strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of urban and rural districts.
