Overview

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is accepting applications for the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program to recover from Michigan's 2024 Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and Flooding. The program aims to address unmet recovery and mitigation needs associated with general infrastructure, public facilities, and hazard mitigation planning. Eligible applicants are units of general local governments located in Eaton, Ingham, Macomb, Monroe, and Oakland counties. Projects must meet specific requirements, including expending at least 80% of funds in HUD Most Impacted and Distressed (MID) areas (Oakland, Macomb, and Monroe counties) and ensuring at least 70% of total funding benefits low- and moderate-income persons. Eligible projects under the Public Infrastructure and Public Facilities (PIPF) program include designing and constructing infrastructure and public facilities. The Planning Program supports comprehensive and land use planning, building requirements, zoning ordinances, studies, and strategic plans to minimize future risks. The application process for PIPF is competitive, with applications due on May 4, 2026. The Planning Program awards funds on a first-come, first-served basis.
