Overview

The Advanced Biofuel Payment Program supports the expansion of advanced biofuel production by providing payments to eligible producers. Advanced biofuels must be derived from renewable biomass other than corn kernel starch.

Eligible applicants include individuals, corporations, companies, foundations, associations, labor organizations, firms, partnerships, societies, joint stock companies, groups of organizations, or non-profit entities that produce advanced biofuel. Public bodies and educational institutions are not eligible.

To participate, producers must enroll by submitting an application during the annual sign-up period (October 1 to October 31). Once enrolled and contracted, producers submit quarterly payment applications based on actual production. The program focuses on fuels derived from cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, sugar and starch (other than corn kernel starch), waste material, biogas, and other renewable biomass sources.
