Overview

The Fuel Transformation Program (FTP) supports the replacement of qualifying diesel vehicles, vessels, and equipment with new, cleaner versions that have low to no emissions. The goal is to mitigate NOx emissions, improve air quality where vehicles and equipment operate, increase protection of human health and the environment (especially in priority areas), and support climate change mitigation goals. Eligible projects include the replacement of airport ground support equipment, port cargo handling equipment, forklifts, freight switchers, Great Lakes ferries and tugs, shore power, and on-road vehicles such as medium- and heavy-duty trucks, port drayage vehicles, shuttle buses, and transit buses. Preference is given to all-electric vehicles and charging equipment. EGLE solicits project proposals through a multi-year competitive application process. Selected projects are funded on a reimbursement basis after all required documentation has been submitted and approved by EGLE.
