MDARD Grants Program

Overview

Goal/purpose: The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development provides grants to promote the expansion of value-added agriculture production, processing, development of food systems, healthy food access, underserved business development, and supply chain business development within the state to enhance Michigan's food and agriculture industry.

Additional applicant eligibility criteria: Eligible applicants include food and agriculture businesses, farmers, food hubs, and food access organizations.

Project eligibility: Projects must establish, retain, expand, attract or develop value added agricultural processing in Michigan, or expand or develop regional food systems or access to healthy food.

Application process: All applications must be submitted on the new MiAgGrants site under a Citizen or Business Account. The 2026 Grant Cycle Request for Proposals opens on February 26, 2026, and closes on April 15, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
