Federal LSR Grants with State Forester Sponsorship

The Landscape Scale Restoration Program is a USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry competitive grant program that promotes collaborative, science-based restoration of priority forest landscapes and furthers priorities identified in State Forest Action plans. Projects cross multiple jurisdictions to address large-scale issues such as wildfire risk reduction, watershed protection and restoration, and the spread of invasive species, insect infestation and disease.

Eligible projects must be on rural nonindustrial private forestland and/or rural Tribal, State, or local government forest land. For the purposes of this program, 'rural' means any city or town with a population of 50,000 or less according to the latest census. Project proposals should be consistent with the goals and objectives of the Michigan Forest Action Plan.

All partners and collaborators, except Tribes, must submit an initial draft of their Application Project Narrative Form and Budget Spreadsheet to the relevant State Forester by September 27, 2024. Each State Forester may sponsor no more than 5 applications. Final applications are submitted via Grants.gov by the federal deadline of November 15, 2024.
