Overview

The Michigan Aquatic Invasive Plant Control Grant Program provides grants to eligible applicants for the control or eradication of aquatic invasive plant species in inland lakes. Eligible applicants must be a legally constituted lake association or nonprofit, property owners association, homeowners association, lake board, or special assessment district, and must have a permit from the department in effect to conduct the control or eradication activities. Eligible projects must ensure public access to the inland lake, have vegetation management goals created by a licensed commercial applicator or lake manager, and have all activities completed by a qualified professional. Projects must use best management practices, utilize approved products, and target only aquatic invasive plants. Note: The Aquatic Invasive Plant grant program was discontinued in 2020 due to lack of funding.
