Nutrition & Healthy Lifestyles Program

The Nutrition & Healthy Lifestyles program previously supported projects addressing food access, food systems, and physical activity. As of 2026, the Michigan Health Endowment Fund is no longer awarding grants through this specific initiative. Instead, commitments to food access, food systems, and physical activity are incorporated as cross-cutting focus areas within other grant initiatives, such as Healthy Aging and Healthy Kids. Eligible applicants included nonprofit organizations, federally recognized Tribes, local units of government, and the State of Michigan. Applicants must be recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization, have a current audit or independently reviewed financial statements, and have at least one paid FTE. All project activities must occur in Michigan.
